VANCOUVER – A turbaned Sikh-Canadian model is featured in the latest ad from retail giant Nordstrom.
Toronto Teacher Harjass Singh is featured with female model Estelle Habermayer in the very chic Ad for one of the largest store chains in North America.
Although many North American companies feature multicultural and diverse models in their Ads, but this is a rare first one using turbaned Sikh-Canadian in their Ads. Sikhs across North America, especially in the US, have been targeted with hate crimes, falling victims to mistaken identity as most of those crimes are targeted against Muslims, some of whom also wear turbans. Nordstrom’s Ad campaign is important for Diversity and Inclusion and spreading a message of living in communal harmony.
